Planning for vulnerable populations in a disaster
There is a small but increasing body of research and evidence regarding some of the more vulnerable groups to disasters. Pregnant women, families with young children, the elderly and disabled are all significantly disadvantaged at every stage of the disaster cycle. Check out the American Red Cross website below which has some great factsheets aimed at each of these groups and supporting them on how to best prepare for a disaster. This is well worth a read.
